IMPORTANT MESSAGE
In Togo, the oldest dictatorship in Africa and its party the RPT choose their parliamentary representatives without the participation of the opposition and completely against the will of the people.
The Togolese were hoping that the presidential elections of June 1998, really won by the opposition, would be a significant beginning towards improving their situation. But once again, General Éyadèma ignored the verdict of the polls and decided to stay in power.
The Togolese Diaspora for the Democracy (DIASTODE) calls the International Community, organizations that defend human rights, governments and parliaments to continue their pressure towards establishing legitimacy and a lawful state in Togo.
To support the struggle of the Togolese people, you are invited to sign the petition of the DIASTODE on this site and to send it to its secretariat.
