Togo to begin reviewing electoral rolls Friday

(PANAPRESS Agency,  Lome, Togo,   December 4, 2001)

Togolese authorities will on Friday begin reviewing voters' electoral rolls in preparation for the next parliamentary polls, whose first round is to be held on 10 March 2002 and the second two weeks later.

According to a decree issued in Lome Tuesday by President Gnassingbe Eyadema, the revision of the voters' rolls, established in 1998, would continue until 16 December.

Last Friday, the UNDP and Togo signed an agreement under which the UN agency will second a senior technical advisor and a specialist in election law to the National Independent Electoral Commission.
