France gives 100 million FCFA election grant to Togo

France has given Togo a grant of 100 million FCFA (over 134,000 US dollars) to enable its National Independent Electoral Commission organise the forthcoming parliamentary elections in March 2002.

Togolese Prime Minister Messan Agbeyome Kodjo and the French Ambassador, Jean-Francois Valette, signed the grant's agreement in Lome Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the European Union on Wednesday also donated voting materials worth at 150 million FCFA (over 200,000 US dollars) to assist the electoral commission in the revision of voters' rolls from 7 to 16 December.
